Captain’s Remarks
19:21 - Part of being “home” in Austin means taking care of the regular humdrum routine things. You know like appointments with the doctor. Today I had to get my eyes checked and they dilated them. My pupils were HUGE and I couldn’t really do much to help Brittany out with our work day for about 3 hours.
She was a trooper though and plowed through the workday. I can’t tell you how important it is to have a supportive and loving spouse when you live in close quarters. Brittany is pretty amazing and she’s mine.. all mine! And I’m not sharing.
19:24 - Have you heard of fitbit? Well I decided to get one to help keep me motivated to exercise regularly. You don’t really realize how much less walking you do in a 40′ rig than you do in a 800 sq ft apartment or 2500 sq ft home. The crazy thing is those little steps add up, and when you aren’t doing them your body starts to show it. I’d gained some weight recently and wasn’t too thrilled with it. So I decided to try out this gizmo.
It’s called a fitbit, and it syncs to an app on my iPhone. It isn’t perfect at tracking things, but it is definitely motivational. So for what it’s worth I went ahead and strapped it to my wrist.
Interestingly the first thing I noticed about it was how much water I should be drinking. fitbit recommends 64oz of water per day. Let me tell you, that is a LOT of water. I’ve drank around 44oz today and I feel like I’m drowning!
But I’m giving it a go. You can also enter your stats, you know like age, height, weight, etc and then enter the foods you eat and how much weight you’d like to drop. Then it gives you some targets to help you reach your goal.
So no promises, but we’ll see what happens.
19:29 - Tomorrow is our first “on the road” social media presentation for one of our clients. We’ll mainly be talking about Facebook and Pinterest.
Speaking of which, are you following us on Facebook or Pinterest? We’re on both platforms! We’re on Twitter and Instagram too!
19:30 - I need to write a separate article about “the wave.” This is the obligatory hand wave that you do in campgrounds to everyone else you see. It is a strange phenomenon with soft rules, but one that we’ve noticed at every campground we’ve been at. RV’ers are a friendly bunch and that is part of it, but I believe there is much more to it than that. Post coming soon.
Remarks - I love Austin. I haven’t told Brittany this yet, she’ll read it for the first time when she adds her comments tonight, but as much as I love Austin, I’m ready to go exploring again. I really love how vast this country is and how much there is to do and see. I’m itchin’ to get going already. I know that Galveston, New Orleans, and Florida are in our near future and if we didn’t have so much to do here, I’d probably push for an early shove off. ~ E
